2026 Guide to Parking at Red Rocks

Red Rocks Amphitheatre sits in the foothills just west of Denver, and parking there can be confusing if you have never been before. Parking is free but on a first-come, first-served basis. The walk to your seats can climb a few hundred feet over dirt paths and staircases. And the spot where you’re dropped off at the start of the night is not where rideshares pick you up after the show.

Red Rocks is wedged between two sandstone monoliths, and those formations shape every parking and walking decision at the venue.

At Blue Sky Limo, we’ve spent more than a decade driving guests to Red Rocks, and we’ve seen what actually works. This guide explains where to park, what each lot is best for, how ADA, EV, and overnight parking work, how limo and rideshare drop-off and pickup operate, and the one option that lets you skip the parking lot entirely.

Where Should You Park at Red Rocks?

Parking at Red Rocks Amphitheatre is free and operates on a first-come, first-served basis. The six event lots open two hours before door time, and Traffic Control directs vehicles to whichever lot still has available space. Upper lots generally mean a shorter but steeper walk to your seats, while lower lots involve a longer walk in exchange for a quicker exit after the show.

Limousines and shuttle buses use the Top Circle Lot for drop-off. Uber, Lyft, and taxis pick up at the Jurassic Lot off Entrance 2 on Highway 93. ADA parking is available at Top Circle and Upper South, and requires a valid disability placard or plate.

The 6 Red Rocks Parking Lots

Every parking lot is included with your ticket, but they are not interchangeable. Walking grade, distance, number of staircases, and how quickly you can leave after the show all vary from lot to lot. Below is a clear overview of the best place to park at Red Rocks for each type of concertgoer.

Free Parking, ADA Access, and EV Charging

Free parking at Red Rocks in Colorado applies to all event lots, and there is no separate parking fee at the gate. Because parking lots fill quickly, your arrival time matters far more than the entrance you choose. ADA parking is located at Top Circle and Upper South; both require a valid disability placard or plate, and the registered holder must be present in the vehicle with identification. During ticketed events, an accessible shuttle operates from Upper South to a drop-off point near Row 1.

For electric vehicles, ChargePoint stations are available in the Trading Post and Upper North lots. However, the number of stalls is limited, and they often fill quickly, so it is best to treat charging as a potential bonus rather than a primary plan. Vehicles may remain overnight until 10:00 AM the following morning, making it practical to use a designated driver or arrange a ride home if you prefer to retrieve your car in daylight. Cars left after 10:00 AM or parked outside of designated areas are subject to ticketing or towing.

Red Rocks Parking by Event Type

Red Rocks hosts more than concerts, and each type of event affects how and where people park. Planning for your specific event can save you time and frustration in finding a parking spot.

Concerts

  • Lots open two hours before door time.
  • Upper lots are gone 60+ min before showtime on sellouts.
  • Budget a 30 to 45 min exit through the canyon.

Film on the Rocks

  • Screenings start after sunset in summer.
  • Lots open in the late afternoon.
  • Arrive by 6:00 to 6:30 PM for a relaxed, picnic-friendly spot.

Yoga on the Rocks

  • Summer mornings, usually around 7 AM.
  • Traffic is light compared with concerts.
  • 30 to 45 minutes early is plenty.

Sunrise & Winter Events

  • The Easter sunrise service fills lots in the middle of the night.
  • Winter shows add snow and ice.
  • Allow extra time and good tires.

On non-event days, Red Rocks Park is free to visit, and the gates are open from one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset. During these hours you can park, hike the trails, visit the amphitheatre stairs, and explore the Trading Post without concert traffic or event parking controls in place. Standard park rules still apply, but there are no show-related parking restrictions, shuttles, or overflow lots to worry about.

Four Ways to Handle Red Rocks Parking

Most visitors handle Red Rocks parking in one of four main ways. The infographic below summarizes each option, including the one choice that lets you avoid the parking lots entirely.

Four ways to handle Red Rocks parking: drive and park on-site, private limo or shuttle to the gate, rideshare pickup at Jurassic Lot, and arrival and exit timing

Limo, Shuttle, and Rideshare: Drop-Off and Pickup

Drop-off and pickup do not occur in the same location, and that becomes very clear after a sold-out show. Limousines and shuttle buses drop passengers at the Top Circle Lot, although Traffic Control may redirect limos to Upper North on especially busy nights. Oversized vehicles such as motor coaches, RVs, and stretch limousines use Lower South Lot 2 unless other arrangements have been made in advance. Vehicle entry into the main venue loop ends at approximately 8:30 PM each night; after that cutoff, all passenger pickups are directed to the Jurassic Lot.

For Uber, Lyft, and taxis, the Jurassic Lot off Entrance 2 (Highway 93) is the only authorized pickup area after a show. From your seats, you walk down the Will Call Trail and request your ride from the Jurassic Lot. On sold-out nights, you should expect surge pricing and waits of 20 to 40 minutes while thousands of other guests request rides from the same location.

Blue Sky Limo drops off guests at the Top Circle Lot or Upper North, depending on Traffic Control instructions and the 8:30 PM vehicle cutoff. Your group has a clear, pre-arranged meeting point after the encore, based on the official routing for that night.

What to Do When the Lots Are Full?

On the biggest nights, the main event lots do fill, and Red Rocks opens overflow areas farther out. These overflow sections can be a 15- to 20-minute walk over less-developed paths, so bringing a flashlight is a good idea.

Parking along the dark roads outside the park can be tempting, but it is risky: vehicles are ticketed or towed, break-ins are more common in remote areas, and the walk back after the show is long and unpleasant. That mix of full lots, long overflow walks, and unsafe roadside parking is a major reason many regulars stop driving themselves and choose a ride straight to the gate instead. For sold-out shows in particular, using a private car service like Blue Sky Limo can be much more convenient, with a professional driver handling parking and a ride waiting for you when you are ready to leave.

Smart Tips for Parking at Red Rocks

Here are some practical tips to make parking and getting around Red Rocks easier. Following these will save you lots of time, effort, and stress when you visit the venue!

  1. Arrive 90+ minutes before door time. Upper lots are usually gone by the 60-minute mark on sellouts.
  2. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Dirt paths, staircases, and elevation gain catch first-timers off guard.
  3. Drop a pin on your exact lot. Trading Post and Upper North look identical in the dark.
  4. Layer up. Evenings at 6,450 feet run 15 to 20 degrees cooler than Denver.
  5. Hydrate and go easy on alcohol. Altitude amplifies both dehydration and drinks.
  6. Leave the glass at home. No glass bottles are permitted anywhere in the lots, park, or amphitheatre.
  7. Download the official Red Rocks app and AXS for mobile tickets, the venue map, and show-night updates.
  8. On a motorcycle or bike? Motorcycles park in marked sections of the main lots, and bike racks sit near the venue entrance, so bring a lock.

Skip the parking entirely
