Some Apps You’ll Want Before You Arrive

Two free apps make a real difference at Beaver Creek. The My Epic app handles everything on the mountain: your digital lift ticket, real-time trail conditions, grooming reports, and even tracking your vertical feet and your friends’ locations. The Village Connect app lets you access free on-demand shuttle rides to anywhere in Beaver Creek Village, Bachelor Gulch, or Arrowhead, so you can get to where you need to. Download both before you leave home.

Understanding Beaver Creek Village

Beaver Creek Resort is organized around three distinct areas: Beaver Creek Village, Bachelor Gulch, and Arrowhead. Each has its own character and is connected by free shuttles and ski lifts. The resort’s history dates to 1980, and four decades of refinement show in every detail from the hydronic radiant heating system that keeps every village sidewalk completely clear of snow and ice to the immaculately groomed beginner terrain that’s earned Beaver Creek a reputation as one of Colorado’s best family mountains.

Beaver Creek Village

The main village is a pedestrian-only plaza built around the Black Family Ice Rink, with shops, galleries, restaurants, and bars lining every walkway. Centennial Express and Strawberry Express lifts launch directly from the village. The Vilar Performing Arts Center sits below the ice rink — a 530-seat underground theater hosting 40+ performances each winter, from Broadway touring shows to jazz and comedy, and one of the most popular event and concert venues in Beaver Creek. Every Thursday from December through March, the village lights up for Thursday Night Lights, which is a glow stick ski parade down the mountain ending with fireworks visible from the entire plaza, free to watch.

Bachelor Gulch

Bachelor Gulch, West of the main village, is noticeably quieter. Home to the Ritz-Carlton, widely regarded as one of the best hotels at Beaver Creek, as well as luxury condos and high-end vacation rentals. The skiing terrain here sees significantly less traffic than the main mountain, and powder stashes can last days longer on the Bachelor Gulch side. Connected to the main village by free shuttle and by ski lifts on the mountain. If you’re after a serene, resort-within-a-resort atmosphere, this is the area to look at.

Arrowhead

The most relaxed of the three areas. Arrowhead sits at the western edge of the resort with its own dedicated chairlift (Arrow Bahn Express), family-friendly condos, and excellent beginner and intermediate terrain. It’s consistently the least crowded skiing at Beaver Creek, and on non-powder days, parking is often free. Home to The Broken Arrow restaurant, a local favorite for its laid-back atmosphere and mountain views. A good option for families and anyone who prefers shorter lift lines over village nightlife.

Tip!
Riding Escalators to the Slopes

Beaver Creek is one of the only ski resorts in the world with covered, heated escalators connecting the parking garages directly to the village and lifts. You’ll ride multiple levels in ski boots carrying your gear — it’s a distinctly Beaver Creek experience that first-timers always remember. Beaver Creek Sports rental shop is one escalator level down from the base of Centennial Express, so you can grab your gear on the way up.

Getting Around Beaver Creek

Once you’re at Beaver Creek, you genuinely don’t need a car. The resort runs a free on-demand shuttle that covers all three village areas, Avon operates free bus routes connecting to the mountain, and a free eight-passenger gondola links Avon Town Center directly to the base area. Together, they get you everywhere without touching a steering wheel.

The Riverfront Express Gondola deserves special mention. This free eight-passenger gondola makes the three-minute ride from Avon Town Center to Beaver Creek Landing, where two high-speed quads reach the main mountain in about 16 minutes. With a capacity of 1,200 people per hour, it rarely has a wait — and it connects directly to Avon’s free parking lots, making it the most practical way for day visitors to reach the resort without paying for village parking.

Cocoa & Corduroy
Every morning at 9:30, Beaver Creek serves complimentary hot chocolate at the top of Centennial Express — timed perfectly with freshly groomed corduroy runs. It’s one of the best ways to start a ski day, and it’s free. Grab a cup, take in the panoramic views from 11,440 feet, and watch the morning light hit the Gore Range before you make your first turns on immaculate corduroy.
While you’re up there: A free guided mountain tour departs from the same spot at 10:00 AM daily for intermediate and above skiers — a great way to discover runs and terrain you wouldn’t find on your own.

Parking at Beaver Creek

Beaver Creek has two parking garages in the village with escalator access to the lifts, two surface lots at the mountain base with free shuttle service. Best of all, if you know where to look and don’t mind a little extra commute time, there’s free all-day parking in nearby Avon with a free gondola ride to the slopes.

The Elk and Bear lots sit at the base of the mountain with direct shuttle service to the Covered Bridge and village. Parking costs $10 per day if you arrive before 1:00 PM, with the first hour free. After 1:00 PM, parking is free. A 10-day pass runs $75. On busy weekends and holidays, both lots typically fill by 9:00 AM. Plan to arrive early or use the Avon alternative below.

Tip!
Free Parking + Free Gondola

Park for free in Avon! Lake Street has 41 all-day spots, Old Town Hall East has 76, and East Benchmark Road has 21. From any of these, ride the free Riverfront Express Gondola three minutes directly to the mountain. When the Elk and Bear lots fill early on busy weekends, this is the locals’ move.

Where to Rent Ski and Snowboard Gear

Beaver Creek has several rental shops in the village, all within a short walk of the lifts. Most shops offer complimentary overnight gear storage with any rental, so you can grab your gear at the base each morning without hauling it back to your hotel.

Pick Up Your Rentals the Afternoon Before

Most rental shops at Beaver Creek let you pick up gear the afternoon before your first day on the mountain, usually after 2:00 PM. You’ll skip the morning rush entirely and get fitted without the pressure of wanting to be on the slopes. Overnight storage is included, so your gear will be waiting at the base in the morning.

Ski Lockers at Beaver Creek

If you’re staying more than a few days or don’t want to haul gear back to your hotel every afternoon, secure storage makes a big difference. Beaver Creek offers ski locker and gear storage options ranging from self-service day lockers in the parking garage to premium heated lockers with boot dryers and ski valet service. Most rental shops also store your gear overnight for free with an active rental, and dedicated third-party locker services near the gondola base give you a private space to stash everything between ski days.

Lost and Found at Beaver Creek

If you’ve lost something at Beaver Creek, don’t panic; items are turned in regularly, and the resort has a centralized system for recovering them. Beaver Creek’s Lost and Found is handled by Guest Services at the base of the village. Call (970) 754-5248 as soon as you realize something is missing. Items found on the ski mountain, lifts, slopes, or in lodges are collected by Ski Patrol and sent to the central Lost and Found at Guest Services. Items left in the village area, including shops, restaurants, and common areas, are also routed to Guest Services. The sooner you report a missing item, the better your chances of getting it back. High-value items like phones, wallets, and ski passes are kept for an extended period, but smaller items like gloves, goggles, and hats are typically donated after 30 days. For items lost in the Town of Avon (off-resort), contact the Avon Police Department at (970) 748-0710.

A Quick Note on Altitude

Beaver Creek Village sits at 8,100 feet, and the summit reaches 11,440 feet. Most visitors adjust without any trouble, but it’s smart to drink plenty of water, take it easy your first day, and hold off on alcohol until your body acclimates. If you experience headache or shortness of breath, that’s normal at altitude and usually passes within 24 to 48 hours. The Beaver Creek Medical Center at 1280 Village Road is staffed by board-certified physicians and open daily during ski season — call (970) 949-0800.
